DIY: Notebook Cover!

I was trying to think of a basic project I could do to get this blog started off, when the answer fell into my hands. I opened up my journal, which I had doodled on many years ago, writing things such as 'I love One Direction' and a whole bunch of silly things I would rather forget. Then, I glanced upwards and saw my ever-growing stash of magazines. Well, the answer was really clear to me at this point.

So the cheapest, easiest way to get rid of this ugly notebook cover would be to hide it! I started by take some paper and putting the notebook on top. I trimmed down the sides that stuck out more then an inch, and then folded the paper down inside and pinned in place. Once I was happy with the way that the paper wrapped the book, I used a glue stick to glue the sides down.

The paper should evenly wrap the notebook, making it look like it has a white cover.

Next, you need to grab your magazines. Flip through them and cut out anything you want. Try and have a few clippings from your magazine that you could use as a backdrop for some other images. Glue all the pieces you like down.

I left some of the spaces white, but you could easily fill that in by planning out your back-drops a little better. I found that having a sort of colour theme really helped to make it look nicer. A
As you can see, I have the sparkling, rippling water with "Shades of Cool" written over it, because I am obsessed with Lana Del Rey and that is one of her songs (hehe), and I also put a palm tree by it, and made it more fun with the Emoji!

So that is basically all there is to it, you can glue magazine clippings all over the outside of the notebook and personalize it exactly as you want! You can cut graphic shapes into the magazine clippings, or anything you'd like!

DIY NOTEBOOK COVER

Materials
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Notebook
  • Paper
  • Magazine
Steps
  1. Place your notebook on a piece of paper.
  2. Attempt to fold the paper around the notebook, folding in the top, bottom and side. If the paper is too large, and more then an inch of paper is hanging off of the notebook, trim the paper.
  3. Pin the paper in place on the notebook, then repeat on the back side of the notebook. Glue down all sides when you're ready.
  4. Take a magazine, and cut out anything that inspires you.
  5. Glue down all your magazine clippings onto the notebook.
That's it! I hope you enjoy this basic project.
